Prenatal vitamins
Prenatal vitamins contain valuable iron that you need when you are pregnant. But this very same iron can trigger nausea. You may want to try a different brand of prenatal vitamins or go on a low iron formula during the first trimester pregnancy. Also, change the timing of the day when you take it. Try taking your vitamin with something other than water, like in a spoon of pudding.
Snack in bed
This one really helped me. Keep a couple of dry, high carb crackers or toast handy. The moment you wake up, sit up and eat them. Get out of bed half an hour later. Remember not to drink any water. This literally keeps off morning sickness. An additional benefit is resolving heartburn, which is an uncomfortable pregnancy symptom.
Watch what you eat before bedtime
Don’t have sugary stuff at bedtime. This makes your blood sugar drop and encourages nausea. Instead go for high protein stuff like yogurt. It relieves tiredness as well.
Ginger really helps
Natural ginger added to tea or your dessert dish stops morning sickness. You can also go in for ginger ale or ginger capsules.
Slow and steady
Each time you rise after a nap, go slow. Rushing out of bed can wake up that morning sickness in a hurry.
Smell it
Aromatherapy can keep off morning sickness. Try essential oils like lavender or peppermint sprinkled on your handkerchief. When you feel nauseous, inhale it a couple of times.
Stay away from nausea triggers
Often, the smell of different foods can cause morning sickness, as can riding an elevator, heat, the sight of a computer screen, etc. You need to identify these and avoid them.

10 Body Changes While Pregnant
All women experience body changes during their pregnancy. Some women have a few symptoms and other women have more. Everyone is different. You will find 10 symptoms that are normal, and you may have one or none of these symptoms.
Fatigue – most common symptom, and you may feel more tired than you have ever felt before. This is normal especially during your first trimester. Your body is working overtime to produce hormones and supplying blood and nutrients to your baby. One of the hormones is progesterone, and it is a central nervous system depressant, so this hormone will make you feel overly tired.
Bleeding - it is not unusual to have small amount of spotting or bleeding early in your pregnancy. It is normally more pink in color and does not last very long.
Talk to your doctor and let him know about this, but don’t be concerned unless the bleeding is heavy and lasts a long time. You may also get a bit of cramping early in pregnancy.
Changes in Appetite – The smell of some foods may cause nausea during early pregnancy, or you may find you have a craving for certain foods during late pregnancy.
Foods that may wreak havoc on your stomach would be: Meat, cheese or milk, and spicy foods. Don’t be surprised if these preferences and aversions change as your pregnancy progresses.
Morning Sickness, Nausea and Vomiting – Typically confined to early pregnancy, though some women experience this symptom for up to six months.
Morning sickness is not always confined to the morning, and it results from the changing levels of estrogen in the body.
Increased Urination – As your uterus enlarges, you are likely to feel the urge to go to the bathroom more often. This is normal during the first and third trimester.
Breast Tenderness and Changes – Increased production of the estrogen and progesterone is required to prepare the breasts for nursing. This tenderness does pass.
Constipation and Bloating – Constipation is common during early pregnancy because of an increase in progesterone that slows digestion. Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and help ease constipation and bloating.
Mood Fluctuation – Again, it is all due to the hormonal changes in your body. You may be an even-tempered person and suddenly find yourself crying or losing your temper for no reason.
Understand that these mood swings are common during the first trimester and will usually improve.
Be sure to drink plenty of water and keep crackers and other healthy snacks on hand to address low blood sugar and don’t be surprised if you need to rest and pamper yourself a bit more, especially during early pregnancy.
